Alamosa, CO (November 15, 2019) – A horrific accident on Pike Avenue left one man in critical condition on Monday.
Around noon, on November 11, 24-year-old Jonathan Richardson was on his way home when he came up to the intersection of Pike Avenue and 2nd Street. As Richardson proceeded to the intersection, the vehicle in front of him stopped suddenly. Richardson beeped in an attempt to encourage the driver to continue.
Instead, the passenger of the van got out and began pouring a liquid, which was later confirmed to be hydrochloric acid, onto Richardson’s vehicle before throwing it onto him as well. Richardson exited the vehicle, suffering serious burns from the liquid. As Richardson stood next to his vehicle, the driver of the van switched the vehicle into reverse and ran him over, causing extensive injuries.
Richardson was flown from the scene of the accident to Colorado Springs where he underwent immediate surgery.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
