Cañon City, CO (December 4, 2019) – A tragic explosion in Cañon City claimed one victim’s life and left another person injured on Wednesday.
On December 4, authorities responded to the scene of an explosion at the Fremont Correctional Facility located off Old Dairy Road.
According to reports, a boiler exploded around noon at the facility. One worker incurred fatal injuries in the incident and was declared deceased at the scene.
Another worker was injured in the incident. Emergency crews provided medical treatment to the victim on-site before rushing them off to an area hospital.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
